Hickam Air Force Base held its Armed Forces Observance Day on 21 May 1984, visited by more than 25,000 people from the on and foo-base community. Over 25 aircraft from among the various armed services were place on static display. The security support provided by the 15th Security Police Squadron as well as other support provided by other units on base, was significant. All priority aircraft on static display were individually roped off with stanchions to prevent tampering by the spectators, as well as armed security guards posted as guards and roving foot patrols to keep air assets under close observation.
