This is a group photo taken in during the occasion of the official visit of General Welch, Chief of the General Staff (US Air Force) and his high level delegation to the People's Republic of China. Featured in the front row of the photo are General Welsh (center), standing next to General Wang Hai (海), a fighter ace of the Korean War and Chinese PLA Air Force Commander, and next to him is Ambassador Lord, and next to him General Lin Hu, PLAAF Commissar. The wives of Gen Welsh and Ambassador Lord (Betty Bao Lord) as well as those of Generals Wang and Lin, are also in the front row. Standing in the back rows are four other members of the delegation, and Captains Danny A. Lever 'Acting' Air Attache, and Captain Kenneth Allen, Assistant Air Attache and his wife. General Wang Hai was awarded the rank of general (shang jiang) in 1988, and retired in 1992.
