Earll, David John, Lt Col

Captain David J. Earll was a pilot assigned to the 469th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Korat Airbase, Thailand. On October 21, 1966, he was assigned a bombing mission over North Vietnam. Earll flew as the number two aircraft in a flight of two. Earll was seen to release his rockets on the target and start recovery when his aircraft exploded into a fireball. No parachutes were seen, and efforts to contact Earll by radio were unsuccessful.  Earll was classified Missing in Action. The target was located near the city of Quang Khe in Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam. David J. Earll was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel during the period he was maintained missing.

This Veteran has an (IMO) In Memory Of Headstone in Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial, Hawaii with another memorial in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

It was in the 1950's when we would visit your Dad at the air base in Grand Prairie. Your Dad, Joe, was base commander. I was in awe of your father with his steel gripped hand shake. He gave me my first jeep ride around the base, and lifted me up for my first glimpse into the cockpit of a F86 Sabre jet. You and Terry's rooms were full of model aircraft suspended in flight from the ceiling. It's no wonder that you followed in your Dad's footsteps. I'll never forget and always be thankful for your sacrifice as well as the sacrifice of many who fought for our freedom. Rest In Peace my dear cousin...
